The Paw Paw Department of Public Services

The Department of Public Services in Paw Paw is responsible for a range of duties, including brush and leaf pickup, park maintenance, and the water supply and distribution system. The department also handles the village’s sanitary sewer system, street maintenance, and other tasks essential to the safety, security, and comfort of the village’s residents. With a population of over 3,500 and lands that cover approximately 2.5 square miles, the Village of Paw Paw requires daily, ongoing upkeep and service that only an experienced and well-trained Department of Public Services can provide.

The Village of Paw Paw is committed to providing residents with clean, safe drinking water. We perform regular water quality testing to ensure that there are no significant sources of contamination in our water supply. You can find both current and previous years’ water quality reports below.

Consumer Confidence Report

The State of Michigan enacted updates to the Lead and Copper Rule in 2018. The purpose of the Lead and Copper Rule (LCR) is to protect public health by minimizing lead and copper levels in drinking water.  Please read more about the Lead and Copper rule and how to protect yourself from the sources of lead by  clicking here.

Energy Smart Program

As an electrical energy distributor, Paw Paw participates with the Michigan Public Power Agency in providing energy-saving programs for their residential and business customers. The Energy Smart programs offered in Paw Paw include: Prescriptive and Custom Incentives for business customers and a variety of programs for residential customers. Electric System Study

The village recently completed a comprehensive review of its electrical system focusing on its assets, conditions, and recommendations for replacements and upgrades to improve reliable electric power to our customers. We are also increasing electric rates for the first time in fourteen years to ensure that we are able to support future system improvements, regular maintenance, and equitably distribute the system cost among customers.
